Ils affirment pouvoir le faire \u00e0 l'aide d'un \u00e9chantillon d'haleine. Leurs conclusions viennent d\u2019\u00eatre publi\u00e9es dans la revue scientifique <a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1002\/adma.202104555\"><em>Advanced Marterials<\/em><\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>L'\u00e9quipe de recherche de l\u2019universit\u00e9 de Fribourg a mis au point une nouvelle m\u00e9thode pour mesurer la concentration d\u2019antibiotique dans le sang. Ils ont d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 une puce microfluidique. Et d\u2019apr\u00e8s les tests effectu\u00e9s sur animaux, les r\u00e9sultats obtenus via la respiration correspondent \u00e0 la concentration d'antibiotiques dans le sang. D\u00e8s lors, les chercheurs affirment que cela ouvre la voie \u00e0 des m\u00e9thodes de tests non invasives et fiables.<\/p>\n<p>Concr\u00e8tement, le biocapteur contient des prot\u00e9ines qui reconnaissent les antibiotiques de type b\u00e9talactame. Ils servent \u00e0 tuer les bact\u00e9ries en inhibant, voire en arr\u00eatant, la production des composants de la paroi cellulaire. Un exemple de b\u00eata-lactamines est la p\u00e9nicilline. La prot\u00e9ine r\u00e9ceptrice naturelle permet aux bact\u00e9ries r\u00e9sistantes de d\u00e9tecter les antibiotiques qui les menacent. Dans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurekalert.org\/multimedia\/800792\">une vid\u00e9o<\/a>, les scientifiques expliquent le fonctionnement exact de cette technologie.<\/p>\n<h3>Facile \u00e0 utiliser<\/h3>\n<p>Le chercheur principal, Can Dincer, indique qu\u2019il s\u2019agit d\u2019une avanc\u00e9e majeure. Auparavant, seules des traces d'antibiotiques \u00e9taient d\u00e9tectables dans les \u00e9chantillons d'haleine. D'apr\u00e8s son expertise, un contr\u00f4le rapide du niveau d'antibiotiques est un avantage consid\u00e9rable. Cela permettrait un gain de temps notable dans les h\u00f4pitaux. Le scientifique d\u00e9veloppe actuellement des capteurs portatifs en papier. Son but : mesurer en continu les biomarqueurs dans l'air expir\u00e9. \u00c0 terme, cette technologie pourra facilement \u00eatre ins\u00e9r\u00e9e dans un masque facial standard. La prochaine \u00e9tape consiste \u00e0 valider cliniquement l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 et la fiabilit\u00e9 de la puce microfluidique sur des \u00e9chantillons humains. Si les r\u00e9sultats sont concluants, un d\u00e9pistage rapide et non invasif des antibiotiques sera peut-\u00eatre \u00e0 port\u00e9e de main.<\/p>\n<h3>L\u2019importance de mieux doser les antibiotiques<\/h3>\n<p>Bien respecter la concentration corporelle d'antibiotiques est crucial. Cela rend les traitements encore plus efficaces. Mal dos\u00e9s, les patients atteints d'infections graves peuvent souffrir de septic\u00e9mie (inflammation) ou de d\u00e9faillance d'un organe. Autre facteur \u00e0 prendre en consid\u00e9ration : l'\u00e9volution des bact\u00e9ries. En effet, lorsque les antibiotiques ne sont pas administr\u00e9s correctement, elles risquent de survivre, muter et peuvent r\u00e9sister au m\u00e9dicament. De plus, en surdose, le nombre d\u2019effets ind\u00e9sirables chez le patient augmente. Et il est difficile d\u2019\u00e9valuer quelle est la quantit\u00e9 optimale. La marge th\u00e9rapeutique personnelle est diff\u00e9rente pour chaque personne.<\/p>\n<h3>Une nouvelle pand\u00e9mie ?<\/h3>\n<p>L'utilisation inappropri\u00e9e des antibiotiques est un probl\u00e8me mondial. En effet, les maladies infectieuses sont de plus en plus difficiles \u00e0 traiter lorsque les bact\u00e9ries r\u00e9sistent \u00e0 leurs effets. Ainsi, une \u00ab simple \u00bb infection de la vessie ou un traitement pour une op\u00e9ration du genou peuvent \u00eatre consid\u00e9r\u00e9s comme une menace mortelle. D'ailleurs, si aucunes mesures ne sont prises, les Nations unies estiment que 10 millions de personnes mourront chaque ann\u00e9e de maladies infectieuses au cours des trois prochaines d\u00e9cennies.<\/p>\n<p>Or, malgr\u00e9 ces pr\u00e9dictions alarmantes, l\u2019industrie pharmaceutique est peu encline \u00e0 investir dans le d\u00e9veloppement et la production de nouveaux antibiotiques. La raison ? Les co\u00fbts sont non seulement trop \u00e9lev\u00e9s, et les risques restent trop importants avec de faibles gains financiers. D\u00e8s qu'un nouvel antibiotique appara\u00eet sur le march\u00e9, seul un groupe restreint de patients y a acc\u00e8s. Il s'agit g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement des personnes qui r\u00e9sistent d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e0 ceux existants. Il faut attendre un certain temps cons\u00e9quent avant de pouvoir les d\u00e9ployer \u00e0 plus grande \u00e9chelle. Malheureusement, lorsque cela est possible, le brevet a souvent d\u00e9j\u00e0 expir\u00e9.
