Le centre de recherche flamand Imec a mis au point une nouvelle m\u00e9thode pour mesurer la pression art\u00e9rielle et la rigidit\u00e9 des parois des vaisseaux sanguins. La technologie d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e utilise un capteur \u00e0 ultrasons qui d\u00e9termine la vitesse de l'onde de pouls (VOP) dans l'art\u00e8re carotide. Cette derni\u00e8re \u00e9tant la plus proche du c\u0153ur, elle permet d\u2019obtenir des donn\u00e9es bien plus pr\u00e9cises que celles obtenues avec les appareils d\u00e9j\u00e0 existants.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Les maladies cardiovasculaires, telles que les accidents vasculaires c\u00e9r\u00e9braux ou les insuffisances cardiaques, sont l'une des principales causes de d\u00e9c\u00e8s dans le monde. Pour limiter autant que possible les risques, il est tr\u00e8s important de d\u00e9tecter rapidement une pression art\u00e9rielle anormale. La rigidit\u00e9 de la paroi des vaisseaux peut \u00eatre un bon indicateur d\u2019une pr\u00e9disposition \u00e0 certaines maladies cardiaques et \u00e0 l\u2019hypertension art\u00e9rielle. Aujourd'hui, pour diagnostiquer ces diverses anomalies, il est d\u2019usage de mesurer la vitesse \u00e0 laquelle l'onde de pression sanguine se d\u00e9place dans les art\u00e8res d'une personne. Autrement dit, la vitesse de l\u2019onde de pouls (VOP).<\/p>\n

Malheureusement, ces mesures n\u00e9cessitent des formes d'imagerie invasives ou encore moins accessibles. Les m\u00e9decins pr\u00e9f\u00e8rent alors g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement mesurer la tension art\u00e9rielle \u00e0 l'aide d'un tensiom\u00e8tre. Ainsi, une technique plus pratique permettant de mesurer la VOP centrale aurait un plus grand pouvoir pr\u00e9dictif du risque de maladie cardiovasculaire. \u00c0 ce jour, de nombreuses personnes ne sont pas diagnostiqu\u00e9es faute de moyen de d\u00e9pistage simple et peu on\u00e9reux de la rigidit\u00e9 de la paroi vasculaire sur une large population.<\/p>\n

Une nouvelle m\u00e9thode pour les m\u00e9decins<\/h3>\n

Le centre de recherche Imec a trouv\u00e9 comment rem\u00e9dier \u00e0 ce probl\u00e8me. La nouvelle m\u00e9thode consiste en un capteur \u00e0 ultrasons bas\u00e9 sur les contractions dans la nuque. Ces donn\u00e9es sont ensuite utilis\u00e9es pour d\u00e9terminer la rigidit\u00e9 de la paroi des vaisseaux et la pression art\u00e9rielle, et ainsi estimer le risque de maladie cardiovasculaire. Le chercheur Xavier Rottenberg explique que \u00ab cette nouvelle m\u00e9thode pourrait fournir une solution pratique aux m\u00e9decins pour d\u00e9terminer la rigidit\u00e9 de la paroi des vaisseaux.<\/em> \u00bb<\/p>\n
